Bay Lines - Beach of Dreams
Creatively Mapping 120 Miles of Morecambe Bay through photos, stories and drawings
A new digital multi-media portrait of Morecambe Bay has been created by people along the Bay coast. They have been walking, recording and writing about each of the 120 miles as part of the project Bay Lines - Beach of Dreams, and their creative responses to each mile are presented here as 5 digital stories.
Some participants joined sections of a 6 day walk led by the Artistic Director of arts organisation Kinetika, Ali Pretty. These Gathering Walks took place on a gloriously sunny week at the start of June, as Ali and colleagues set out to walk and explore the whole 120 mile route from Fleetwood to Walney Island.
Others have walked their own 'special' mile and shared their stories, photos and dreams for the places they love.
Together their contributions build an intimate picture of the Bay coastline in 2023 and offer a new narrative, exploring the walking routes, landscape, environment, history and nature along the way, and sharing their personal hopes and challenges for the future of the 120 miles.
